What Schools Are Saying

"I don't know exactly how my daughter's behavior is different or changed because of the anxiety support group. I do know that she was skeptical going in because she has been in individual therapy for years and has done intensive programs in the past. She figured she knew enough information, strategies, and tools; it's implementing those that is difficult.

I encouraged her that she might have something to offer others, and perhaps she'd even learn one new 'thing.' She enjoyed the group time, and it gave her perspective. She appreciates her family and the support systems in her life, and she recognizes that not everyone has that. She also realized that she is not alone. She knows some fellow students with anxiety or depression, but she also met some students in the group she never imagined to be there.

During a recent stressful week of extracurriculars, my daughter became exhausted. After a 12-hour day at school, she was overwhelmed and needed a break. Another girl from the group recognized that and went up to her to chat and decompress. My daughter appreciated that connection deeply, and knew they never would have interacted without the group. Thank you again for facilitating this important resource."

FAQ for School Services

A licensed therapist from NLR will be available at the school to provide individual sessions for students.

If you believe your child may benefit, please contact your child’s guidance counselor. The counselor will help determine if a referral is appropriate and guide you through the next steps.

Yes. The licensed therapist follows strict professional and ethical standards, which means that information shared in therapy sessions is kept confidential. Parents and guardians will be contacted only if there is a safety concern—such as a risk of harm to self or others.

The therapist may collaborate with the guidance counselor in general ways to support your child’s success, but personal session details are not shared unless there is a safety concern. Parents are able to receive progress updates about their child.

Individual therapy sessions are billed through the family’s health insurance. Please contact the counseling office if you have questions about coverage or costs. Not in-network with your insurance, please call NLR at (708) 895 7310 and ask about our sliding fee option.

For more information, please reach out to the school counseling office or directly to New Leaf Resources at (708) 895-7310 and speak with our intake coordinator or Becky Duncan for more information.
